Kayleigh Gillies taught Visual Arts to 2nd-5th grade students at Isidore Newman School from 2015-2024. Guideposts and pedagogical inspiration for the curriculum includes the 8 Studio Habits of Mind, Corita Kent’s Ten Rules for Students and Teachers, the Design Thinking approach to innovation, and the Art21 Educators Program.
Material processes and techniques covered include paint mediums, drawing mediums, printmaking, book arts, ceramics, sculpture, fiber arts, costume design and construction, theatrical set design and construction, and digital and graphic design.
Gillies currently teaches classes and workshops to small groups in her home studio in Portland, Oregon.
